New York Fashion Week SS 2014

I get so excited for Fashion Week, why I never know it’s hard work, getting glammed up to stand in line for hours on end, getting pushed and shoved trying to get to your seat…. But I love it all the same and this year was no different it all started with a make up session and a new hair blow out thank you to Tresemme who were on site at the Lincoln Center

I am going to talk about the shows in no particular order because there is so much to tell. I was really surprised at the lack of accessories this coming season, but elated that hats, hats and more hats are to come and none less than at Desigual they were full of vibrant colors and matching to the clothes and handbags. I can’t wait to see their collection in the stores.

5:30 Jerome was a very interesting show and they mixed a lot of Chic style with casual hobo but it really worked.. I so loved the shoes all though I am not sure I will be rushing out to buy them…I called them ‘The grass is NOT greener on the other side of the fence’ Check out the fabulous eyelashes though !

At the Cynthia Rowley presentation I was a little jaded by the time they allowed us into the room and it was a very hot day to be standing around. I applauded her though when I saw that she had at least dressed up the models with some accessories. I do believe I shouted out loud “Hurrah” at the big bold necklace that went with the classic LBD. I loved it!

David Tlale Oh boy, this was divine, the satin, the silk, the fringed back of the cream dress. I feel like I was being transported into another place. I have to say his designs  were edgy / chic. I can see something for everyone in his collection, the only disappointment was there was very little color, but I guess when it comes to evening wear not very many people are bold!

Helen Yarmak’s new Spring/Summer 2014 collection, “The Fur Sensation,” was styled by friend and collaborator Academy Award Nominated Emmy winner Patricia Field, costumer designer of Sex and the City and Devil Wears Prada. Legendary Supermodel Pat Cleveland and her daughter Anna Cleveland Von Ravenstein, modeled the designs, walking through mannequin presentations styled and art directed by Field. I cannot contain myself the collection for fur lovers was so colorful and very chic, not for everyone’s taste I know but you have to admire her for New shapes and styles which were introduced with convertible coats to vests with detachable sleeves, coats to jackets with detachable borders, and hooded ponchos.  Yarmak’s trade mark two-sided fur transformers – furs that reverse to exclusive printed patterns on the natural leather side of the fur.  The fur transformers combine the traditional Tzars’ luxury of sable with advanced modern technologies and unique designs. I loved the hats too…

I wish her the best for SS 2014 I really do and I hope that I will be able to afford to buy something from this collection and have an opportunity to be able to wear it!

In between fashion week the Accessories Council, hosted by President Karen Giberson held a Panel discussion with Jill Zarin formerly of The Housewives of New York, who was launching her new jewelry line and other vendors Jing Ai, Roman & Sunstone, Biaggi, Eric Javits and many others. It was a really interesting morning listening to what the panel thought we were going to see in the coming season.

Rebecca Minkoff had everyone standing in their seats as Jonelle performed at the show, Kelly Osborne was to do the presentation, but not sure what happened, she was there but I never heard her say anything. Hey Ho the show was fabulous and I loved loved loved the whole collection. You have to see the shoes and boots they were gladiator styled with heels. We have to get in on this early girls, I will be standing at the door waiting for the store to open the minute they arrive in town.

Trina Turk went for the real casual, beachy look and I again loved the hats, everyone needs a hat for the beach even the guys. But what I loved the most was that she dressed up the bikinis with big bold necklaces. I am going to experiment with this style next season, I am now searching for necklaces and big cuff bracelets. loved this show.

So after much standing it was certainly time to finish the shows with a little drink with my good friend Sony Loren…well we did deserve it. February 2014 is so far away and a harsh winter to come before it, I can only but dreaming of summer.
