‘Don’t Look Back You Are Not Going That Way’ …..Or so the saying goes!

I was not going to be here in New York for the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week this season, but as my life took a different direction than I anticipated here I am. My life changed so much in the last year, I can honestly say it has been a roller coaster of emotions. I have much to be grateful for, my family, my friends and everything in life that I have. I have learned not to take life for granted, one day all is well in ‘Anne World’ the next can be a disaster, I guess I am saying I know that I must make the best of everyday as tomorrow is not guaranteed to any of us.

As I get older it really takes a bit longer to get there, but I do, well at least so far. I have to thank a few people without whose support I really appreciated more than they will ever know Sony Heron and Paula Eding Graver. The two of you got me through the last emotional Roller Coaster Ride. If you are like me, you will understand my need to publicly thank people who help you. I have not had an easy time these last few months in my private life and although I do not want to air my laundry I want to say that still at my age we can learn lessons in life. I have really learned to listen more, respect that sometimes I need to hold my own council rather than verbalize it regardless of if  I thought I was helping or not. Love is a very special gift that we may get one time in our lives or many times and we must treasure every single moment.

On a brighter note, I was honored that Dr Shellie Hipsky, put me in the Top 100 Empowering Women and I took great strength from her as I taped the Radio Interview and as I made the video to Empower Other Women. My Mantra this week seems to have been “If I can, you can” …. Not always easy to say when you have a lot of other things going on in your life, that makes me question myself. But as I said I bounce back and I know that “Anne is back”.

I am really glad that I managed to stay for February New York Fashion Week, although it has been the most coldest I can remember, my bestie Sony Heron dragged me out of the comfort of my warm home and made me go to some of the shows I was sitting on the fence to attend. The highlights have to be Naomi Campbell’s ‘Fashion for Relief’ in support of Ebola and of course Tommy Hilfiger. I have never attended a show with over a 1000 people there. It was a giant American Football Field inside!

As my house is basically packed up now and awaiting the shipper’s to come, it was a real drag trying to find clothes to wear and now my home is yet again unpacked! I dread to think what “The Fashion Police” made of my outfits, thrown together this season, as I am almost always organized in what to wear!

I look forward to tonight meeting one of my FB friends Linda McGinn Rick who is here in New York at the Toy Fair, but we have bonded so well we are having dinner. Life has a weird way of connecting people for reasons we may never know or understand. I think we just have to grab these situations with both hands and know that if we are traveling in the right direction it can only be a good thing.
