Bloggers are they helpful or harmful ?

I just read an article about a fashion blogger, no actually a beauty blogger who is afraid to write the truth about products sent to her unsolicited for free. This opens a whole can of worms. I think there are rights and wrongs on this one. Firstly on the side of the designer, if you send a product to a recognised blogger then I guess it is appropriate to ask them to review it, however there is no guarantee they will

a) Review it

b) Like it or

c) Write about it especially if the goods were sent unsolicited.

I think this is the risk you take if you want free publicity and of course you have to be able to take the good comments with the bad. Let’s face it not everyone is going to like your products are they? In the real world if everyone liked the same brand what would happen to all the other brands. Ridiculous to think that. On the other score I think if you as a brand or designer send free products to a blogger then is would be courteous of them to actually write about the product or send them back.

On the side of the blogger, if they receive free products unsolicited then I think if they do not want to

a) Review them or

b)

Write about them

They should simply send them back and say thanks but no thanks. The blogger should be able to write what they like about them if they review them, good or bad because at the end of the day people read blogs to hear honest feedback. I think they should write a clear and honest opinion of any product they review, remember, at the end of the day it is only person’s feedback they do not represent the world. I think sometime’s designers and brands forget that in a lot of cases, BUT NOT ALL, bloggers are not journalists, fashion or beauty trained, they are writing about products they are interested in and feel a passion about.

Anyway at the end of the day this is my opinion from both sides I think there are arguments to prove both are right and wrong….. Crikey I hope no one writes bad things about izzi bag though!!! Please be kind.

14th September saw the Independent Fashion Bloggers all hang out in the East Village; I cannot believe that over 200 people were standing on the sidewalk waiting to get into the party. Of course izzi being izzi found a way not to stand in the queue but to go into the main restaurant door order some great wine and canapés and wait for the excitement to die down in the comfort of a bar stool. Some men are not stupid are they? Anyway we made a video at the party promoting izzi bag which will be running on snazl.com very shortly so keep tuned to see it. Here is a little peek of a picture with the founder of the IFB Jennine Tamm of the coveted with our own Anne Agoren of izzi bag. There were bloggers from all over the globe at the party with some really whacky attire. It was a party where everyone wanted to be noticed I guess, but our leader went for the winter look of animal print by inc of New York with lovely Cavalli shoes in burnt Orange, lovely.
